All of our saunas are insulated to R-14 in the walls and ceiling and have sauna grade vapour barrier allowing the sauna to heat up faster and stay hot longer – keeping the valuable steam or "Löyly" in. The benches, walls, and siding in the Super Much are made from locally sourced eastern white cedar and white pine. Our exterior siding is 1 x 6 nickel gap that we stain black. We can also stain match or offer Shou Sugi Ban torched siding.

Our steel roof keeps everything dry and has a 40 year warranty. Our wood burning use double walled, stainless steel insulated stove pipe.

Why We Use Eastern Pine, Cedar and Aspen

Traditionally, in Finland and other countries where sauna culture has a history, the sauna was constructed from the wood that was found in the forest the sauna rested in. We choose pine, cedar and  because it's local, sustainable, and has dozens of anti-inflammatory and holistic benefits. Western Red Cedar is generally considered a western adaptation of the sauna and we typically don't use it, as it doesn't grow in Ontario where our saunas are built.

We use knotty pine or cedar on the walls. The pine tar in the knots heats up, creating a wonderful aroma. Clear pine or aspen is used on both the bench and bench back so the tar doesn't stick to you or your towel.

What Makes our Sauna Different

Simply put, most saunas on the market have no vapour retention and are not insulated. Insulation and vapour barrier allow our saunas to heat up faster, stay hot longer, and allow for the steam and moisture to stay inside the sauna room. We ventilate our saunas appropriately to ensure that there is a constant supply of fresh air, so your sauna can breathe when not in use. The Super Much also boasts an upper bench, sticking with the Finnish tradition of "feet above the stones." We have also maximized the depth of both the upper and lower benches to allow for a more comfortable experience when lying down, stretching, meditating, or doing yoga.

*The Pocket

We intentionally build our saunas with lower doors creating a 'hot pocket', so that heat and moisture don't escape when bathers are coming and going from the sauna room.

Heaters

Although our online models offer Harvia heaters, we can also supply our clients with Huum or any other brand they feel drawn to. We prefer Harvia as they are the global leader in the sauna market, and we feel that they make the ideal product to ensure anyone using a Super Much has the best experience possible.

Available heater options are the Harvia Linear 16 wood burning heater, the Harvia Virta HL9 electric sauna heater or the Harvia KIP 45 (available with side mounted controls or a thermostat). Wifi controls are available on the electric model*.

*the electric model requires a certified electrician to connect the stove and control unit as well as to confirm there is room on your electrical service. The wood fired model will come stove pipe installed and intact.
